At York High School in Elmhurst, it's no longer cool to be wired.
That's because York, along with a growing number of schools in theChicago area, installed cutting-edge technology that in the past wasfound largely only in companies or luxury hotels: high-speed wirelesscomputer networks.
York, which like other suburban schools opened Monday, distributed165 wireless laptop computers to its faculty and has 32 for generalstudent use.
Although it isn't the first school to set up a wireless network,it has one of the most extensive systems, with wireless connectionsavailable in more than 90 percent of the school.
